Biography
[Selection]
Markus Willeke manages to glance over the edges of the established and consensus inclining high culture and turns to popular culture for his inspiration. His working method is one in acceleration, the canvas often lies on the floor during the creation of the artwork and the brush is handled in long continues strokes. The wet canvases soak up the acrylic paint, windings and blurriness arise, corrections are impossible with this wet in wet technique - a typical Willeke painting.
