Biography
[Selection solo exhibitions]
Art and life, life and art are two inseparable entities for the artist Rik van Iersel. One can see that his method is raw, undisturbed, without preparation and untouched by academic techniques, bright colours partly dripping. Rik van Iersel is an autodidact; he did never visit any art academy. The aesthetic, unaffected, savage directness, realness, spontaneous and therefore authentic is important for his art, and that is what connects himself with the many artists of the twentieth century.
